The world's popular social media applications, Twitter and Instagram, experienced a global disruption in 2 different days.
This has been confirmed by social media tracking site, Downdetector.com which reported Twitter failed to be accessed by users around 8:15 pm (yesterday) and Instagram at 5 am (today) local time.
It is understood that nearly 24,000 Instagram users have experienced the global disruption with nearly 2,000 still affected in the United States (US).
According to a spokesperson for Meta Platform Inc, they are aware of the harassment problem against Instagram users and they are working to remedy the issue.
So far, users in Malaysia have not reported any disruption to the photo sharing application.
Meanwhile, Twitter was also affected with nearly 50,000 users failing to access the application yesterday.
It is said that the disruption lasted for almost 3 hours, forcing the company to use a second vendor, Amazon Web and Google Cloud, to conduct meetings.
As a matter of knowledge, the issue of global disruption like this is not a new thing where last year the WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger apps failed to be accessed for almost 6 hours.
Not to forget also Twitter often experienced widespread software glitches in February.
At the time of this writing, Twitter shares were down 1.25% at $ 36.29 while Meta shares were down 3.33% at $ 158.05 amid weak equity market trends.
