Canada's main opposition Conservative Party appointed Pierre Poilievre, a 43-year-old politician, as its new leader.
For context, he is a staunch supporter of Bitcoin (BTC) and a critic of the central bank that is allegedly fueling the country's inflation.
As proof, Poilievre had previously bought shawarma in March and paid for it using BTC digital assets and donated BTC ($100) to the "British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals".
Earlier this year, he criticized the Justin Trudeau administration for ordering financial institutions to freeze bank accounts and local crypto platforms as thousands of Canadians protested the government's pandemic restrictions.
Apparently, bank accounts and digital assets belonging to the leaders of the Canadian anti-vaccine movement have been blocked, and this is an unjustified act because BTC and altcoins can guarantee people's financial freedom.
Explained, Poilievre will replace Erin O'Toole during the Conservative Party leadership election because he won 68% of the vote, while Jean Charest 16%.
Not only that, Pierre Poilievre is expected to become the new Prime Minister of Canada if the Conservative Party wins the election in 2025.
This is because, he aims to implement reforms in various sectors including developing cryptocurrencies in North American countries.
