 Bursa Malaysia opened on a negative note before making a small rebound in line with the performance of regional markets.


According to Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd, the local stock market is expected to experience volatile fluctuations based on the bearish trend on Wall Street.


As a result, the firm predicts that the energy and plantation sectors will experience a sell-off with commodity prices falling while the depreciation of the ringgit can be used by export-oriented companies in the near future.


Meanwhile, the FTSE KLCI index (FBM KLCI) was up 682 points at 1,419.86 from Monday's close at 1,413.86 with a weak opening of 0.18 points at 1,412.86.


In the broader market, gains at 240 outpaced losses at 144, while 241 counters were unchanged, 1,772 untraded and 20 suspended.


Total turnover at 336.26 million units worth RM179.32 million.



Heavyweight stocks saw Maybank add 1 sen to RM8.60 while Public Bank Bhd, CIMB Group Holdings Bhd and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd rose 2 sen to RM4.30, RM5.32 and RM8.34 while IHH Healthcare Bhd jumped 4 sen to RM5 .99 and Hong Leong Bank Bhd reached 2 sen at RM20.60.


Active shares showed PT Resources Holdings Bhd up 1.5 sen at 37.5 sen, Cnergenz Bhd up 7 sen at RM1.09, Top Glove Corp Bhd up 1 sen at 64.5 sen, Harvest Miracle Capital Bhd down 1 sen at 13.5 sen and Velesto Energy Bhd down. 0.5 sen at 11.5 sen.


On the index board, FBM Emas Index gained 39.34 points at 10,133.04, FBM 70 advanced 24.32 points at 12,294.59, FBMT 100 Index reached 40.79 points at 9,880.25, FBM Emas Shariah jumped 51.75 points at 10,203.71 while FBM ACE added 11.45 points at 4,672.5.


In terms of sectors, the Energy index rose 1.69 points at 684.04, the Plantation index added 52.76 points at 6,654.93, the Financial Services index jumped 23.33 points at 16,112.52 and the Products and Services index rose 0.77 points at 170.67.


Meanwhile, the ringgit continued to depreciate at 4.6045/6085 against the dollar from yesterday's closing of 4.6030/6045.
