Netflix Inc is seen trying to reinvigorate its brand by venturing into the video game industry.
It is understood that Netflix is working to establish its own game studio which will be led by former Zynga and Electronic Arts (EA) executive Marko Lastikka.
This latest development has been confirmed by the vice president of Netflix Game Studio, Amir Rahimi, by announcing that the company will establish a 'world-class game studio with no ads or overpayment requirements'.
As a reminder, Netflix is now dabbling in mobile video games after acquiring a game company Night School Studio.
In March this year the company collaborated with a Finnish game firm, Next Games to create a game based on the popular series Stranger Things.
Netflix's decision is seen as part of the company's new effort to re-strengthen the company after experiencing a decline of 200,00 paid users earlier this year.
The decline in performance also saw the company's stock plunge 35% or the equivalent of about $50 billion in market capitalization, its worst result since 2011.
Back to the original news, Netflix is also planning to create video games that are not only focused on games on mobile devices only.
As of this writing Netflix shares are trading up 0.13% at $224.36.
