Groom Clarence Chan and bride Joanne Tham had a retro 70s themed wedding at the Sandbox metaverse on September 17.

The wedding was also a collaboration between Smobler Studios and 1-Group in establishing a digital replica of Singapore's heritage building, The Alkaff Mansion.

Explained, The Sandbox is a leading decentralized virtual world that focuses on gamified experiences and digital real estate, while Smobler Studios is a Singapore-based metaverse architecture and design agency that successfully raised $1.2 million.

Additionally, 1-Group is Singapore's independent lifestyle group that partners with the country's leading restaurants, cafes, bars and clubs.

The establishment of Alkaff Mansion by Smobler Studios and 1-Group in the metaverse has created an amazing experience for a garden theme wedding in Singapore.

This is because the mansion was created with unique architecture and design, including decorated gazebos, European-style fountains, green canopies and verandas.

Meanwhile, guests who attend a physical wedding ceremony in a hotel also have the opportunity to participate in the virtual wedding celebration.

In fact, after The Sandbox co-founder and COO Sebastien Borget officiated the couple's wedding, specially made 70's themed avatars will also dance to the beat of the music.

Although Clarence Chance and Joanne Tham's metaverse wedding is the first in The Sandbox, similar celebrations have taken place before in other virtual spaces, for example footballer Kevin Prince Boateng married model Valentina Fradegrada in the OVER metaverse.
