Malaysia-Indonesia relations remain intact with import and export trade between the countries increasing 43.5% at RM95.1 billion last year compared to the current record for 2020.
According to the Malaysian Foreign Trade Development Corporation (Matrade), total exports to Indonesia jumped 32.5% to RM39.22 billion while the value of imports increased 52.3% to RM55.88 billion.
It also marks Indonesia as Malaysia's 7th largest trading partner globally while being the 3rd most important in the Southeast Asian region.
In the meantime, the managing director of Axon Consultancy Sdn Bhd Low Jiun Jack who organized the Business Strategy Analysis Indonesia 2022 conference at the Matrade Exhibition & Convention Center explained the importance of the relationship between the two countries.
According to him, Indonesia is the first country that is focused on the planning and implementation of joint business strategies.
This is because Indonesia has many business opportunities for Malaysia and he expects exports worth RM30 million can be generated through it in the period from 2022 to 2023.
