Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the deployment of Russia's paramilitary forces amid Ukraine's success in retaking some of its occupied territories.
In a much-anticipated address to the nation on Wednesday, Putin said the deployment of some of his reserve forces was aimed at defending Russia and its territories.
He also claimed that the West wants to destroy Russia and does not want peace in Ukraine.
"To protect our homeland, its sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as ensure the safety of the people and the people in the liberated territories, I consider it necessary to support the proposal of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff", he said.
According to Putin, efforts to start the deployment will begin today (September 21), saying an order for partial mobilization has already been signed.
Partial military mobilization or 'Partial military mobilization', requires people who are currently in reserve to be conscripted, moreover, those who serve in the armed forces and have certain military expertise and relevant experience.
