After accusations by the United States that Saudi Arabia forced other countries to support its recent drastic cuts, OPEC+ members came forward to stand up for the truth.

Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz said the decision was made as part of the government's hard work to support stability and balance in the oil market.

While the government's defense minister and King Salman's son, Prince Khalid said the move was taken unanimously by OPEC+ members and based on economic factors.

His statement was later supported by ministers from several OPEC+ member countries including the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

UAE energy minister, Suhail al-Mazrouie in a tweet on his Twitter page said that the latest decision of OPEC+ is a mutual agreement and without any political intention.

In the meantime, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation chief executive officer Nawaf Saud al-Sabah said the move was welcomed by him, including other major producers, especially Russia.

Earlier on Thursday, the Biden administration claimed that OPEC+ cuts would boost Russia's foreign earnings and suggested they were decided for political reasons by Saudi Arabia.

By the end of the Asian session, Brent oil futures were trading at around $92 a barrel while US WTI was little changed at $86 a barrel.
