Global bakery Paris Baguette owned by South Korea's SPC Group will invest RM130 million in developing its first halal food hub in Johor.
According to Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghaz, the food hub called Pusat SPC is capable of producing 11 tons of frozen dough every day, creating 100 jobs related to manufacturing and management.
He added that he wishes to see SPC achieve great success by having a positive socio-economic impact in Johor as the state's ecosystem is able to attract the interest of investors.
It would also like to be informed that the state government mentioned during the groundbreaking ceremony at Nusajaya Tech Park that they will continue to help in supporting the development of SPC in this region.
Among the most important individuals present were SPC Group President Hur Jin Soo, Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Datuk Wira Arham Abdul Rahman; and Johor Investment, Trade and Consumer Affairs Committee Chairman Lee Ting Han.
Meanwhile, Hurt pointed out that the SPC group was founded in 1938 as a small bakery in South Korea while developing Paris Baguette in 1988, which now has 4,000 stores worldwide.
It is also understood that the establishment of the SPC center in Nusajaya Tech Park Johor will further strengthen its branding in the Muslim market which also makes it the first manufacturing plant in Southeast Asia.
Apart from expanding its business in South Korea, the United States, Vietnam and Singapore, Paris Baguette now intends to strengthen its pastry business in Southeast Asia.
