'Will Rishi Sunak become the new Prime Minister, or will Boris Johnson make a comeback?'
The new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), Liz Truss resigned from the position she held, 44 days after her official appointment by the late Queen Elizabeth II in early September.
The news of his resignation was announced by himself in front of the official government office 'Number 10' yesterday local time.
When the resignation was announced, Truss accepted the fact that he had lost the trust of his party and would officially step down next week.
He explained that he had met and told King Charles about his resignation as leader of the UK Conservative Party.
In general, Truss's short leadership tenure was beset by various problems and financial issues where economic plans introduced to help the people of the UK did more harm than good.
The economic plan, introducing tax cuts, not only caused a significant depreciation of the Pound but also forced the intervention of the central bank of England (BOE) to calm the market turmoil.
Truss was then seen trying to fix the problems that had arisen by sacking his comrade, Kwasi Kwarteng and appointing Jeremy Hunt to occupy the position.
However, the presence of Hunt, who acted to abolish Truss's economic plan, has led to a loss of full confidence in the Prime Minister by members of the Conservative Party.
Push after push received finally saw Truss resign and the new Prime Minister of the UK is expected to be announced on October 28.
Meanwhile, among the candidates who are expected to hold the post of Prime Minister are former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak, Penny Mordaunt and possibly the return of Boris Johnson.
