Technological changes in the next five years will make corruption cases in Malaysia more complicated following transactions made through cryptocurrency.

According to Tan Sri Azam Baki, Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) stated that now bribes are paid using cryptocurrency which makes a transaction difficult to trace and solving cases is getting more complicated.

He added that MACC and Bank Negara are looking for ways to track bribery payments through cyberspace so that prevention activities keep up with the changing times and technology.

Therefore, MACC needs to further enhance enforcement in playing a role in prevention, enforcement and education in the country.

Meanwhile, employees are advised to improve their knowledge related to cryptocurrencies so as not to be left behind in technological developments, developments or the modus operandi of criminals.

It is understood that MACC must examine matters that are harmful and have an impact on society from an economic and socio-cultural point of view in order to become a respected anti-corruption body.

He also asserted that the anti-corruption syllabus in educational institutions may not be relevant for the future because there will be changes in technology, the thinking of the new generation and so on.

Because of that he should always think like the younger generation in order to be able to study more deeply to prevent such corrupt activities.

In the meantime, the Head of the MACC Commission outlined his duty to investigate and bring the investigation papers to the Attorney General's Office (AGC) before the AGC will evaluate and make further decisions.
