'Delivery trucks use electric power, how much is the electricity bill this month?'

Tesla Inc's semi-electric commercial truck is legal to be the official transport for Pepsi Co starting December 1 this year.

The matter was announced by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elon Musk in a tweet on his personal Twitter page.

Musk is seen adding to the hype by saying the vehicle can travel as far as 500 miles or 805 kilometers, in addition to stating the price of a truck sold at $180,000.

On the same thread he continued that under the subsidy program approved by the United States (US) Senate, there is a tax exemption of up to $40,000.

On the record, Musk showed off a prototype of the truck in 2017 and said production would begin in 2018.

However, due to supply issues causing delays, the truck failed to be completed and Musk resumed production the following year.

In the meantime, Pepsi has become the first customer of the truck after receiving protests from environmentalists and being asked to reduce fuel consumption.

Following that, Pepsi ordered 100 Tesla semi-electric commercial trucks in 2017 after CEO Ramon Laguarta said he was committed to reducing carbon emissions in the company's transportation by 10%.

Among other firms that are potential customers of the Tesla truck are the Mountain Dew beverage company and the Doritos snack manufacturer.

as of this writing Tesla shares are seen down 1.11% at $238.13 while Pepsi is down 1.93% at $160.80.
