The World's First Digital Country, Tuvalu Moves Into the Metaverse!

While other countries are scrambling to delve into Web3 technology, the island nation of Tuvalu in the South Pacific does not want to be left behind to enter the new world of the metaverse.

The main purpose of the plan is that the culture and society on the island of Tuvalu is always preserved without having to eliminate its own uniqueness.

Foreign Minister, Simon Kofe said that he is now trying to find alternatives that can protect the island's heritage from rising sea levels due to climate change.

Thus, the re-creation of the island of Tuvalu in the metaverse is one of the effective ways to protect the heritage they have long protected.

Kofe also mentioned that they only have the option to become the first digital country in the world if the land disappears.

This follows the expectation that the entire country will be submerged by the end of this century, which when the tide occurs 40% of the capital district is under water.

The existence of the island of Tuvalu in the metaverse will make it a very valuable asset because its land, sea and country will always be preserved even if in the physical world it has been destroyed.

Apart from Tuvalu, the Caribbean island also established its embassy in the metaverse while Australia intends to do so earlier this year.
