Gazprom's exports to its main foreign markets hit their lowest level since at least the beginning of the century as flows to Europe declined.

The Russian gas giant shipped 100.9 billion cubic meters of fuel to countries outside the former Soviet Union this year, according to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alexey Miller.

Compared to 2021, it is quite a significant decrease with 46% lower in 2022.

Gazprom's shipments to Europe have been shrinking for months as the Kremlin responded to sanctions imposed by the EU following its invasion of Ukraine.

Almost all of the main pipeline routes that deliver Russian gas have been affected from multiple streams, while supplies to several European countries were completely cut off earlier this year after refusing to pay for supplies in rubles.

Meanwhile, Gazprom has gradually increased supplies to China with daily volumes in December surpassing contract levels and hitting records in several days.

Meanwhile, Gazprom's gas production has fallen to 412.6 billion cubic meters this year, Miller said.

This is a nearly 20% decline from 2021 and is the lowest since at least 2008, according to company data.
