'Use Twitter well, that's what Elon Musk has.'

The Joe Biden-led government seems to be still paranoid or simply wary of TikTok's influence in its country when it bans the platform on government-owned devices.

Now several states of the United States (US) including Texas, South Carolina, Maryland and South Dakota have banned TikTok from being used or uploaded on state-owned smartphones, tablets or personal computers.

It was made due to concerns about the possibility of the platform collecting its users' data and sending it to the Chinese government under Xi Jinping.

There have previously been concerns in the US and government officials about TikTok's data collection policy and its owner ByteDance Ltd's relationship with the Chinese government.

Fearing that US user data was being sent to communist China, Governor Greg Abbott of Texas outright banned the platform among government officials.

He also did not rule out the possibility that TikTok is actually a Chinese government data collection tool aimed at obtaining personal information of US users.

Also in the same tone are the US Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen and the head of the FBI, Chris Wray who often voice national security concerns regarding the TikTok platform.
