 US-China tensions are rising

China's chip-making sector becomes new US sanctions

HP Inc is also considering a similar move

Dell Technologies is reportedly considering ending the use of Chinese-made chips by 2024.

Citing a Nikkei report, the US computer company has notified suppliers to reduce the amount of Chinese-made components in its products.

The news comes amid concerns over rising tensions between Washington and Beijing.

Most recently, the Biden administration blacklisted Chinese memory chip maker YMTC and 21 major companies in the country's artificial intelligence chip sector.

In addition, Dell also requested product assembly and other component suppliers such as electronic modules and printed circuit boards to help provide capacity outside of China, such as Vietnam.

Meanwhile, computer maker HP Inc is also rumored to be planning a similar move as it has begun looking at suppliers to move production and assembly from Beijing.

In October last year, the Biden administration published a set of export controls including measures to block China from certain semiconductor chips made anywhere in the world with US equipment.
