A sweet smile crossed the lips of stock investors today following the recovery of sentiment by seeing the Wall Street market turn green.
This is a string of better earnings reports from Big Tech companies like Meta Platform.
The Dow Jones Industrial gained its biggest daily gain since January 6, rising 1.6% or 524 points to 33,826.17.
While the S&P 500 recorded its biggest gain since January following a 1.96% jump to 4,135.34 and the Nasdaq was stronger with an increase of 2.76% to 13,160.03.
On Wednesday, Meta reported better-than-expected first-quarter earnings that drove its shares up nearly 14% in Thursday trading.
The strengthening was also followed by Amazon which rose 4.6% following revenue that exceeded expectations in the first quarter of $127.4 billion.
In addition, Intel shares also rose about 2.8%, Microsoft rose 3.2% and Alphabet rose 3.7%.
Following the encouraging performance, investors shrugged off gloomy readings in US gross domestic product (GDP) data which unexpectedly slowed in the first quarter.
In the meantime, the US30 index also jumped high at around the level of 33,756 in the Asian session today.
