Global fast food giant McDonald's will temporarily close all of its offices in the United States this week as it prepares to announce layoffs to its workers.
The move is said to be part of a wider restructuring of the company.
McDonald's has ordered its US workers and some international staff to work from home from Monday to Wednesday via email last week.
In the notice, the company also asked employees to cancel all in-person meetings with vendors and other outside parties at its headquarters.
According to the message, McDonald's said it will deliver important decisions related to roles and staffing levels across the organization.
Even so, he refused to comment on the number of workers to be laid off.
Earlier in January, the biggest fast-food chain said it had to make tough decisions about changes to its corporate staff by April.
As of February, McDonald's employed more than 150,000 people worldwide in its corporate and restaurant roles, with 70% of them located outside the US.
