Recently, the President of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa declared a 60-day state of emergency in the country after the most wanted prisoner who is a drug lord disappeared from a prison in Guayaquil.

The emergency situation was the biggest security test ever and sparked chaos in several other prisons in the country.

The drug cartel group also managed to capture the prison and capture several guards on duty as hostages.

Following that, bloodshed also occurred in several hot locations throughout Ecuador.

Even more surprising, a television station in Ecuador was attacked by drug cartel members while broadcasting live. Several armed individuals entered the studio and opened fire indiscriminately.

Naboa said, he has just signed an emergency decree so that the Armed Forces get full political and legal support to hunt down the suspect named Jose Adolfo Macias. He was found missing from prison on Sunday having previously served a 34-year sentence.

Adolfo Macias Villamar or better known as Fito, is the leader of the Los Choneros gang which is a gang that has been involved in several prison riots and caused deaths in recent months.

Previously, Jose had been locked up in a maximum security building in a prison. However, earlier this week several drug cartels carried out massive attacks in several prisons and caused the prison system to fail to function which could result in prisoners escaping.

Ecuador's prison agency said the tragic incident happened on Monday in six of the country's overcrowded prisons. Fighting between drug cartel groups has broken out and it is estimated that more than 400 prisoners have died since 2021.
