Regarding the issue that went viral on social media regarding the drop in the value of the ringgit to an unexpected level, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has come forward to give an explanation.

BNM in its statement said the exchange rate between the Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and the US Dollar (USD) issued by Google yesterday was inaccurate.

The exchange rate that reached the level of RM6.24 against the US dollar was just an accidental 'glitch' on the website.

Meanwhile, the trading range for USD/MYR is seen to be quite limited these days in the range of 4.7480 to 4.7630 as published on their official website.

On BNM's social media, it called for people to find accurate data about the ringgit on the official platform or any foreign currency exchange reference.
