Deceived by Crypto Scheme, Director of Malaysian Firm Loses RM11 Million!

"Hey guys, don't easily believe in crypto investment schemes, it's better to invest yourself and be safe."

Today Malaysia was shocked by the news regarding a company director who suffered a loss of over RM11 million in a cryptocurrency investment scheme called 'CCERX' which was advertised on Facebook in September 2023.

According to Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa, Deputy Director of Bukit Aman's Commercial Crime Investigation Department (JSJK) said that the loss was the single biggest case of crypto investment fraud ever.

Because the police launched an investigation according to Section 420 of the Penal Code, the 60-year-old man made a police report on 30 January 2024 at a police station in Sentul, Rohaimi said on Monday yesterday.

Since November last year, he also informed that the police received 124 reports from victims of investment scams across the country involving a total loss of more than RM90 million.

While in the process of investigation, the police have identified 73 companies, 83 bank accounts belonging to companies and business firms including one individual bank account used in the following fraud.

Following that, Rohaimi advised anyone who is still involved in the 'CCERX' investment scheme to stop immediately and make a police report while individuals who want to invest in crypto transactions should check the validity of the service before doing so.

On a different note, an 80-year-old woman in Perak lost RM10.4 million after she was duped by a crypto-based investment scam where it was included in a WhatsApp group promoting a digital asset investment scheme.
