The Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme (SJKP) has provided housing loans amounting to RM14.9 billion, benefiting 65,818 Bumiputera applicants since it was launched in 2008.
This scheme, introduced by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, aims to help Bumiputera buyers get housing loans, even if they lack a fixed income, such as gig workers.
In a recent update, Housing Minister Nga Kor Ming shared that SJKP has provided RM3.14 billion in loans to 14,373 applicants this year alone, under the new "Madani SJKP" initiative.
This program covers loans of up to RM500,000, which can be used for new homes, existing homes or auctioned properties.
This initiative supports first-time home buyers, especially young people without proof of regular income.
Additionally, as part of a broader economic plan for Bumiputera development called PuTERA35, the government will study housing needs to ensure more accessible and affordable housing options.
According to 2022 data, real estate transactions among Bumiputeras increased by 14.8% in volume and 12.5% in value compared to 2021, reflecting steady progress in home ownership.
