Here's Why Coffee Prices Are About to Soar!

Coffee lovers may soon feel the pinch as the price of Arabica coffee has hit a 47-year high.

The surge, reaching 320.10 US cents per pound, is due to severe drought conditions in Brazil, the world's largest coffee producer.

The drought has raised concerns about future coffee harvests, especially for 2025/2026.

While rain in October has brought hope for a better crop for the plant, experts believe it's too early to breathe a sigh of relief.

The price hike is also due to shipping delays, US trade talks and new EU deforestation rules that are further complicating the journey of coffee from farm to market.

Farmers are cautious about supplies, with only small quantities available for sale, which is tightening availability and pushing prices higher.

Vietnam, a major supplier of Robusta coffee (used primarily for instant coffee), is also facing production problems.

Dry weather during its growing season has limited supply, pushing Robusta prices up to around US$5,200 a tonne after hitting a high earlier this year.

With demand still high globally, this issue has meant higher prices in stores and coffee shops.

Coffee lovers should be prepared to pay higher prices if this supply problem continues.
