KPDN recently busted a syndicate involved in the illegal trade of subsidized cooking oil resulting in the confiscation of oil worth almost half a million ringgit.

The group's strategy is simple but profitable where they buy packets of subsidized cooking oil per kilogram at RM2.50, transfer it to tanks, and then resell it as used cooking oil to various industries at RM3.80 per kilogram. This allows them to make huge profits.

In a raid in Kajang, the authorities found more than 14,000 kilograms of oil and arrested 15 people involved in the operation, including locals and foreigners.

They turned a house into an illegal storage facility and a business disguised as a buyer of used oil.

The raid also revealed equipment used for their activities, such as pumps and tanks.

In addition to oil, the authorities also seized luxury vehicles and business documents related to the illegal operation.

This syndicate, which has been active for six months, reportedly earns around RM20,000 per day.

Authorities are now investigating other individuals who may have collaborated with the group, including a packaging company suspected of supplying the oil.
