Minister of Health Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad said targeted public health subsidies in Malaysia could help the government reduce spending, as healthcare charges in government hospitals are much lower than in the private sector.

By targeting subsidies to specific groups, the Ministry of Health aims to ensure fairer treatment for everyone, regardless of income.

The Ministry will study the number of high-income individuals (T15) using public facilities to determine the appropriate policy.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim mentioned that any savings from this initiative could fund medical devices for low-income patients and improve healthcare facilities.

In addition, Dr. Dzulkefly features the Healthier Choices Logo (HCL) program, which helps consumers make healthier food choices.

As of October, 791 products have received HCL certification, covering items such as beverages, dairy and convenience foods.

The program is also expanding to eateries under a new initiative, the Healthy Eating Program (MyChoice), to encourage more nutritious choices in eateries.
