Highway-related projects worth RM15.09 billion have been awarded to Bumiputera contractors from the G7 to G1 categories as of the third quarter of 2024.
This figure is almost the same as the RM15.10 billion awarded throughout the past year.
According to Deputy Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, RM335 million of the amount was channeled to 1,631 Bumiputera G1 companies.
This shows an increase compared to the RM333 million distributed to 1,585 G1 companies last year.
He also officiated the Matchmaking Programme, which connects Bumiputera contractors with highway concession companies.
This programme aims to expand the involvement of Bumiputera contractors in highway projects, thus strengthening their economy.
Also present were the Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Works, the Director-General of LLM, and several leaders of relevant associations.
