“Greenland is not for sale!” – Greenland PM to Trump

Greenland’s Prime Minister, Mute Egede, has made it clear that Greenland is not for sale and will not be sold.

The response follows recent statements from United States (US) President Donald Trump, who implied that the United States should control Greenland for security reasons.

Trump suggested that owning Greenland is important to American national security due to its location and the location of the US Pituffik Air Force base.

The base plays a key role in the early detection of missiles due to Greenland’s strategic position between Europe and North America.

This is not the first time Trump has shown interest in Greenland; in 2019, he expressed a desire to buy it, but Denmark and Greenland quickly rejected the idea, calling it absurd.

The proposal has strained diplomatic relations, with Trump canceling a visit to Denmark in frustration.

Greenland, despite relying on Danish financial support, has the right to declare independence.

For now, its leaders remain steadfast in protecting its autonomy.

At the same time, Trump also sparked tensions with Panama after criticizing the Panama Canal toll.
