The controversy over the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) selling Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) shares at a low price of RM5.40 to RM7.36 and buying them back at a high price has been clarified by the EPF.
According to the EPF, the sale of its shares in MAHB in 2023 was at a price between RM6.80 and RM7.70 each.
The EPF managed to earn a profit of RM102 million which includes dividends and capital gains.
Meanwhile, the previously announced profit of RM100.7 million does not include dividends earned by external fund managers.
The high dividend payment in 2023 of 5.5% for conventional savings and 5.4% for sharia savings is the result of the EPF's investment in MAHB.
The EPF assures that all financial reports comply with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards and that no information is concealed or misreported.
Since 2014, the EPF has earned RM650 million from MAHB shares through trading and dividends.
