MK-84 Bomb Arrives in Israel Amid Ceasefire – What Does Trump Really Want?

On Sunday, Israel finally received a shipment of MK-84 heavy bombs from the United States after President Donald Trump moved to lift sanctions imposed by the previous Biden administration, according to the Israeli Defense Ministry.

In a press conference, Trump defended his decision to approve the shipment despite the ceasefire in Gaza still in effect.

He stressed that “Peace is achieved through strength,” referring to Israel’s interest in ensuring its military capabilities are not compromised.

The 2,000-pound bomb, which can penetrate thick concrete and produce a huge explosion, was previously held back by the Biden administration over concerns about the destruction in densely populated areas.

Although Washington had previously supplied thousands of bombs to Israel after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, the Biden administration later suspended some shipments on humanitarian grounds.

Now, with Trump’s decision to lift sanctions, the shipment not only adds to Israel’s military capabilities but also underscores the close ties between Washington and Tel Aviv.

With alleged ceasefire violations continuing to fuel tensions, the big question is whether this is a sign of war starting again?
