Democratic Action Party (DAP) Chairman Lim Guan Eng yesterday proposed to the government to increase the allocation of funds to the non-Bumiputera community to 10% of the amount received by Bumiputeras in the upcoming Malaysian Budget.

In a discussion in the Dewan Rakyat, Lim Guan Eng stressed that he did not object to the allocation of RM12 billion for Bumiputeras, but stressed that the non-Bumiputera community also deserves to receive a fairer allocation, such as RM1.2 billion or 10% of the amount.

He stressed that the allocation gap was too large in the 2022 Budget, which was RM11.4 billion for Bumiputeras, but only RM345 million for non-Bumiputeras.

According to him, he had asked the then Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri Yaakob, for an explanation regarding the large difference in the distribution of funds between the races.

All parties are now awaiting the government's steps in ensuring a more equitable distribution for Malaysians.
