The United States (US) will receive an investment from Taiwanese semiconductor company TSMC worth $100 billion.
The announcement was made by TSMC CEO CC Wei himself with Donald Trump at the White House.
The investment is in line with Trump's goal of wanting semiconductors to be produced in the US on safety grounds.
Three chip manufacturing plants, two packaging centers, and research facilities will also be built as part of the investment.
TSMC is an important company because it is a major supplier to other giants such as Nvidia, AMD and Qualcomm.
The opening of a factory in the US will guarantee the production of chip supplies in the country.
The company has received $1.5 billion under the CHIPS act which encourages chip production in the US.
