On Tuesday, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company PJSC (du) announced a data center agreement with Microsoft.
The large-scale data center will be built at a cost of 2 billion dirhams ($544.54 million) and Microsoft will be the anchor tenant and capacity will be delivered in phases.
The large-scale center is a facility for data storage and computing services to businesses.
CEO Fahad Al Hassawi said the agreement marks a significant step in du’s efforts to revolutionize the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) digital ecosystem.
In total, du now operates five data centers in the UAE and has invested heavily to become a global AI hub outside the United States (US).
