Malaysia Plans to Expand New Markets in Europe – PMX

Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia intends to open new markets in Europe to address the economic challenges currently plaguing the world.


He added that the latest challenge in the form of the tariff announcement by US President Donald Trump is burdening Malaysia and several other countries through the strengthening of their respective domestic capabilities.


The government, through discussions with ASEAN leaders and recently Chinese President Xi Jinping, reached an agreement on the matter.


In addition, the Presidents of Maldives, Kosovo and Pakistan will also visit Malaysia in the near future and hold negotiations to address the global tariff challenges.


For now, Anwar stressed that the main focus of the discussions is to build consensus on domestic capabilities.


Malaysia is striving to build confidence in its ability to be independent and develop based on its own strengths as well as a network of cooperation at the ASEAN and Asian regional levels.


At the same time, Malaysia is also exploring new markets in Europe, with diplomatic relations with Brazil becoming closer.
