SOCSO Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed, confirmed that several companies were detected not registering and contributing with SOCSO.

He stated that 880 cases were recorded last year, involving offences of not complying with instructions.

Companies that did not want to contribute to SOCSO involved vehicle premises and beauty premises, with 658 cases recorded.

Meanwhile, production premises recorded 590 cases.

He explained that employers who refused to register with SOCSO did so because they wanted to save costs and were too concerned about making profits.

However, SOCSO stressed that they would not take direct action.

Instead, they are giving employers the opportunity to contribute voluntarily from 1 to 30 April.

If employers fail to take action within that period, they will be subject to prosecution and a maximum compound of RM10,000.

From 2019 to 2024, a total of 15,922 compound notices worth RM11.91 million were issued by employers who refused to contribute for their employees.
