US President Donald Trump has once again stirred up controversy with his latest statement.
As usual, the question that arises is whether this is authentic news or just another claim to cause chaos?
Most recently, Trump claimed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may be ready to hand over Crimea to Russia — a territory of Ukraine that Russia has invaded since 2014 and widely recognized as an illegal colony.
In a press conference at a New Jersey airport, Trump said he believed Zelenskyy would likely hand over Crimea to Russia.
At the same time, he refused to take responsibility for the issue, instead blaming former President Barack Obama for the “handover” of Crimea in 2014.
Trump also shared his meeting with Zelenskyy at the Vatican during Pope Francis’ funeral, describing the meeting as “productive”.
Although Zelenskyy expressed hope for achieving “historic peace”, he was careful to avoid mentioning Crimea specifically.
In another press conference, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov insisted that Crimea was a "finished business" and would not be renegotiated.
