Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd (BPHB) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi Ports Group from the UAE.
The agreement was signed as an effort to build long-term strategic cooperation involving the development of port infrastructure and maritime logistics in the state of Sarawak.
The signing ceremony (MoU) was witnessed by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Khalifa Port, Abu Dhabi yesterday.
Abang Johari was also accompanied by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin and senior state government leadership.
The official cooperation document was exchanged between BPHB Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ruslan Abdul Ghani and Abu Dhabi Ports Group Regional Chief Executive Officer, Ahmed Al Mutawa.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), the agreement covers the development and improvement of port infrastructure, maritime logistics and services at Bintulu Port as the most important port in Malaysia.
BPHB predicts that the understanding involved will strengthen organizational efficiency, expand strategic investment opportunities and transform Bintulu Port into a high-performing regional distribution center.
