Malaysia Airlines and Google will form a partnership involving data marketing and digital experiences based on artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

The bilateral collaboration began in 2024 and focuses on the comprehensive application of technology in Malaysia Airlines' operations.

The effort is being implemented to make Malaysia Airlines a gateway to Asia and support tourism targets ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026).

The airline's Chief Commercial Officer, Dersenish Aresandiran, said the understanding covers marketing aspects and customer experience from the inspiration and booking phases to the actual trip.

Dersenish informed that Google's expertise and AI technology can enhance the travel experience and enhance Malaysia's position as a world-class destination.

Google Malaysia Director, Farhan Qureshi discussed the joint venture, which proves that creativity and technology can be combined to transform travel on a global scale.

Both parties also introduced interactive AI displays at the MATTA Exhibition using Google's Veo technology, which converts images into dynamic videos for sharing on social media.

The collaboration also aims to strategically expand the brand's campaigns globally through the YouTube platform, particularly in New Zealand, Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia and ASEAN.

Other ideas include the use of first-party data to understand consumer behavior and a 'test and learn' approach to accelerating the company's digital marketing innovation.
