Japan-based investment firm Metaplanet has announced the purchase of an additional 1,004 Bitcoins, bringing its total holdings to 7,800 tokens.
The latest purchase was made at an average price of $104,335.37 per piece, for a total investment of approximately $104,570,000.
The firm reported a 41.7% return on its Bitcoin investments in the third quarter of 2024, and a record-breaking 309.8% in the following quarter.
It was the firm’s second largest purchase following its purchase of 1,241 BTC for $129 million on May 12, a move that pushed its Bitcoin holdings past El Salvador.
According to BiTBO data, Metaplanet has the largest Bitcoin holdings of any public company in Asia and the tenth largest among public firms worldwide.
The firm reported a first-quarter BTC Yield of 95.6% and a yield of 47.8% year-to-date in the second quarter, which measures the percentage ratio of change in Bitcoin holdings per fully diluted share.
