The trade war is heating up again and this time it seems to be more aggressive in attacking the American people and the US trading partners.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned that Trump’s high tariffs could be reactivated this July and that countries that refuse to negotiate may receive a “love letter” with new rates.
In an interview on Meet the Press, Bessent said that the countries involved will receive a letter stating the new tariff rates, and hinted that the tariffs could return to the high levels they were on April 2, with some rates exceeding 10%.
Although the tariffs will affect giants like Walmart, which has already warned that the impact of the tariffs will lead to price increases, Trump’s reaction was simply to “SWITCH THE TARIFF”.
Bessent confirmed that he had already spoken to the Walmart CEO about the situation, insisting, “No pressure — just a casual chat.”
Bessent also slammed the recent credit rating downgrades reported by Moody’s, calling them irrelevant and the company slow to respond.
With just weeks left before the moratorium expires, 18 major US trading partners are now in a precarious position and consumers could be the next victims.
Americans may have to prepare to pay the true price of this war – at the checkout counter.
