Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet) has entered into a strategic partnership with Alipay+ and Weixin Pay to boost spending by tourists from China and Asia in conjunction with the summer holidays.

The partnership allows tourists using AlipayCN and Weixin Pay to make payments in Malaysia simply by scanning DuitNow QR, without having to download another application.

PayNet Chief Marketing Officer, Gary Yeoh stated that with the DuitNow QR facility, small traders have the opportunity to leverage global purchasing power without having to add a new payment system.

Furthermore, Tourism Malaysia Director-General, Datuk Manoharan Periasamy also said that the campaign played an important role in achieving the target of six million tourists from China this year.

Periasamy also discussed that tourists can enjoy an easier shopping experience, thus opening up great benefits to local businesses and stimulating the growth of the country's tourism economy.

This system is now available in 2.5 million locations including restaurants, hotels and souvenir shops, thus giving advantages to local micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to attract tourists.
