After Israel launched attacks on more than 100 strategic Iranian sites on June 13, which claimed hundreds of civilian lives — Iran is now responding in a massive manner.
Launching Operation True Promise III, involving more than 150 ballistic missiles and 100 combat drones, Iran targeted major Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem and strategic military areas.
Among the damage to Israel so far:
One attack was reported in Gush Dan, Tel Aviv, suspected to be an act of targeted assassination by the IRGC Aerospace Force.
8 buildings in Petah Tikva and the surrounding Tel Aviv area were severely damaged, including a high-rise apartment building and critical infrastructure.
Israel's electrical facilities and power grid in Haifa were severely damaged by the missile attack.
The Bnei Brak area and one other location are under military censorship, raising speculation about possible damage to military sites or sensitive facilities.
An Israeli air defense platform was also confirmed to have been destroyed in the attack.
Among the damage to Iran so far:
224 to 406 Iranians have been killed, with over 1,200 to 1,300 injured, nearly 90% of whom are civilians.
14 Iranian nuclear scientists have been killed, including through targeted airstrikes and car bombs.
The IRGC headquarters building in Tehran was reportedly completely destroyed.
The nuclear facilities at Natanz and Isfahan were severely damaged by Israeli missiles.
Dams and water treatment plants near Tehran and Isfahan were also attacked, affecting the water supply for hundreds of thousands of people.
At the same time, the United States (US) is reported to have deployed at least 24 air tanker aircraft, including 20 KC-135 Stratotankers and 4 KC-46 Pegasus
Some of them have crossed the Atlantic towards Europe, believed to be NATO bases, while the rest are hovering around the US northeast coast, ready for any operation.
Also spotted were specially-designed remote-controlled Gulfstream aircraft, typically used in large-scale operations or tactical air control.
Financial markets were relatively calm despite the heightened tensions with Bitcoin and gold recording slight gains in response to geopolitical uncertainty.
More than 100,000 Tehran residents were reported to have evacuated to northern Iran, following warnings to stay away from sensitive areas with some airspace in the Middle East remaining closed.
The G7 and EU have urged diplomatic efforts to maintain the path, but the risk of open war now appears closer.
