Malaysia will launch a sustainable aviation project using B20 palm biodiesel involving ground service vehicles (GSE) at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
The following initiative involves the collaboration of the Ministry of Plantations and Commodities (KPK), the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), Petronas Dagangan Berhad and Syarikat Teras Kembang Sdn Bhd.
Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said the effort involved will begin in February 2025 with three companies that act as airport operators, petrol station operators and suppliers of 20 percent palm biodiesel.
Furthermore, Johari said the biofuel supply chain project at KLIA will be a historic moment in the ground service industry at Malaysian airports.
Johari discussed the ministry's commitment to expanding the use of biodiesel to bring benefits to the people and the industry as well as to preserve the environment despite facing certain challenges.
He added that the biodiesel program began in 2011 with B5, B7 in the transportation sector, B10 on 1 February 2019, B7 on 1 July 2019 and B20 for the transportation sector in January 2020 in Langkawi, Labuan and Sarawak (except Bintulu).
He said this when officiating the Launching Ceremony of the Pilot Project for the Use of B20 Palm Biodiesel for GSE and witnessed the exchange of agreement documents involving the three companies.
The ceremony was also attended by MAHB Managing Director, Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani, MPOB Chairman, Datuk Mohamad Helmy Othman Basha and Petronas Dagangan Chief Executive Officer, Azrul Othman Rani.
