The Selangor State Government has launched the Selangor Strata Fund amounting to RM100 million to resolve the issue of strata title that has been delayed since 2007, giving new hope to thousands of apartment homeowners who are awaiting their respective grants.
The Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, said the initiative is an important step towards ensuring legal ownership of properties by residents, while also guaranteeing inheritance for future generations.
Apart from guaranteeing ownership rights, the state government also expects a return on investment within 10 years through the collection of parcel taxes from legal unit owners.
The first phase of implementation will involve six housing areas that have been identified, including the Bunga Raya Flat in Port Klang, the Seroja Apartment in Puchong, and the Dahlia Apartment in Rawang.
A total of RM10 million has been allocated this year to begin related works.
As of 2023, a total of 898,000 strata title rights have been successfully issued in Selangor.
However, there are still 648 strata development schemes involving 138,817 units that have not yet received their respective title grants.
The implementation of the Selangor Strata Fund is expected to address these issues in a phased and comprehensive manner, in line with the state government's commitment to ensuring the well-being and legal certainty of strata homeowners in Selangor.
