The Thai government has called on its military to prepare planes to evacuate its citizens from Israel and Iran, following the five-day conflict in the Middle East.
An estimated 40,000 Thais are living in Israel, with most of them working on farms through the government's labor scheme, while about 300 are in Iran.
Thai government spokesman Jirayu Houngsub said that Thailand is ready to evacuate its citizens and is working with the military to prepare planes to bring them back from Israel and Iran.
Jirayu also said that the Thai embassies in both countries have prepared evacuation plans for their citizens.
The Thai embassy in Tehran also announced on its official Facebook page that a temporary shelter has been set up outside the capital to house its citizens.
Since the conflict broke out last Friday, Israel has launched attacks on military and nuclear targets in Iran, forcing both countries to close their airspace.
