The US Wall Street market experienced mixed readings after showing positive movements yesterday with major indexes flat.
Investors focused at the beginning of the week, the meeting between US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer with top Chinese officials in London took place on Monday and continued today (Tuesday) to discuss the tariff issue.
The S&P 500 index rose 0.09%, the technology-focused Nasdaq rose 0.31%, while the Dow Jones fell 1.11%.
The discussions were held following a phone conversation last week between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping who agreed to ease tariff tensions between the two countries.
The US-China talks are the focus of the world because they affect the global impact involving trade, technology, geopolitics and climate change.
Investors are hoping the talks could revive tensions in the US-China tariff war, following an agreement in May to temporarily ease trade tariffs.
Elsewhere, technology shares in Nvidia gained sharply as chipmaker AMD rose nearly 5% on easing restrictions on sales to China.
Amazon and Alphabet each rose 1%, while Apple fell 1.2% after its developer conference failed to impress investors.
US stock market trading volume was $17.1 billion, compared with a 20-day average of $17.8 billion.
