The sharing of a photo by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) showing three Malaysian coins on the agency's X account has sparked various questions.

The post raised questions when the 20-sen coin had a sketch of a stick figure and an S on its head, the 10-sen coin had foreign writing and the 5-sen coin had animal footprints.

An X user, @Ispitzionist, also disputed the post and called for monitoring from the Prime Minister's Department, while asking if it was a form of warning to Malaysia.

Through the link, the CIA shared an article titled Coins left at the statue of Nathan Hale, which is located at the entrance to the old CIA headquarters and is called "the nation's first intelligence officer."

The statue also depicts the moment before Hale was executed - a 21-year-old young man who was willing to sacrifice himself for the country, with his hands and feet tied, his face stern and his eyes looking to the horizon.

According to the CIA, the practice has developed into a tradition, where members would leave coins at the feet of the Hale statue before going overseas as a symbol of good luck and protection on missions.
