Terry Bollea, better known as Hulk Hogan, a wrestling legend, has been confirmed dead at the age of 71, days after legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne passed away at the age of 76.
Memecoins inspired by the late Hulk Hogan and Ozzy Osbourne surged in tribute to the deaths of the two iconic individuals.
Hogan was the most famous wrestler in the WWF era, now known as WWE, in the 1980s. His name exploded around the world, not only in the ring but also in the world of television and film.
Following the news of his passing, several tokens associated with his name surged drastically in the crypto market.
Among the most notable is the Wrapped Ethereum (wETH) token called Hulkamania (HULK), which rose over 122,000% at its peak, trading around 0.001335 according to DEXTools. The token was only created eight hours earlier.
The surge in interest in Hogan has also fueled demand in the NFT market, as fans have begun buying up his official CryptoBatz collection as a digital tribute.
Meanwhile, the Solana-based memecoin, also called HULKAMANIA (HULK), which launched on June 6, 2024, has surged over 2,000% in 24 hours, trading around $0.0006146 and reaching a market cap of over $500,000.
However, its value has yet to match the $18.8 million market cap it hit last year after Hogan’s X account promoted the token. However, he has denied any involvement and the post was not uploaded by him.
