The Iranian government is considering buying China's modern fighter jets following the ceasefire with Israel.

The Iranian daily Entekhab reported that Tehran is now showing interest in the export version of the Chengdu J-10 fighter jet.

The main weakness of Iran's military at the moment is its outdated air force due to strict international sanctions.

Most of Iran's military aircraft, including the F-14 model, were still in use before the 1979 Iranian Revolution, when Tehran established close ties with the United States (US).

In addition, Iran will focus on a defense strategy through armed groups at the regional level and strengthen the development of missile programs and drone technology.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that the action was taken in response to the threat from Iran's controversial nuclear program.

According to the Entekhab report, a defense deal with China still has the potential to be realized, but it is not clear whether Beijing is willing to sell the aircraft to Iran.
