The High Court has declared famous fashion designer, Datuk Jovian Mandagie bankrupt after failing to repay a loan of RM5.28 million to Cekap Air Sdn Bhd.
Jovian was charged with failing to comply with the Bankruptcy Notice dated May 21, 2023, which led to bankruptcy within six months before the petition was filed.
The company informed that the total debt including interest was worth RM5,284,340.66, based on the High Court's judgment on April 2, 2023 through a civil suit.
Lawyer Siti Nur Athirazati Rohizad, representing Cekap Air, stated that they filed the notice after Jovian failed to comply with the judgment, followed by the Creditors' Petition which was allowed yesterday.
Jovian also filed an application to suspend and cancel the petition, but the court rejected it.
His appeal against the judgment is scheduled to take place on September 15, 2025.
