North Korea insists the United States (US) must accept the fact that the country's nuclear program will not be stopped.
According to the official KCNA report, Kim Yo-jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, stated that the position has not changed since the previous summit between North Korea and the US.
Yo-jong also said that the good relationship between Jong-un and Trump will not change Pyongyang's nuclear stance, and that US efforts to stop the nuclear program will only be ridiculed.
Yo-jong discussed North Korea's nuclear capabilities and the geopolitical environment that has changed significantly since Jong-un and Trump held three previous meetings.
When asked to comment on North Korea's statement, a White House official said Trump is committed to the goals outlined in the three summits with Kim Jong-un during his first term.
He also added that Trump still adheres to that objective and remains open to negotiating with Jong-un to achieve complete denuclearization of North Korea.
